DENVER (KDVR) — Growth for the Alexander Mountain Fire is beginning to slow as containment grows to nearly 75%.
On Monday, a week after the fire sparked in northern Colorado near Loveland, containment jumped to 74% with the growth slowing at around 9,600 acres.
Overnight firefighting update
On Tuesday morning, the Southwest Area Incident Management Team 1 provided an overnight update and said the fire is smoldering, but no perimeter growth is expected, and the control lines are holding, which is good news for those still waiting to return to their homes.
"Firefighters continue to work on ensuring that the threat of the fire growing beyond its current footprint has been reduced to the lowest level possible," said the Southwest Area Incident Management Team 1 on Tuesday.
