LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- A 29-year-old Las Vegas man was killed early Monday in a motorcycle crash in the northwest valley, Metro police said.

No witnesses to the crash have been found, but Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department investigators said the motorcycle caught fire after the crash.

A passerby notified police, and investigators said the crash happened sometime between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. on West Centennial Parkway at the intersection with North Torrey Pines Drive.

According to police, evidence at the scene indicated a 2005 Harley-Davidson Road King motorcycle was eastbound on Centennial Parkway and failed to negotiate a curve. The motorcyclist slid into the east curb of Torrey Pines and hit a reflective warning sign. The motorcycle caught fire.

The motorcyclist, who was not identified by police, died at the scene, police said.

The motorcyclist's death is the 79th traffic-related fatality in the Metro's jurisdiction so far this year.

Anyone with information should call Metro's Collision Investigation Section, (702) 828-3595.

The crash remains under investigation.
