$50K Powerball ticket sold in Denton as $209M jackpot hits in North Carolina
DENTON, MD – A Powerball ticket worth $50,000 was sold in Caroline County for the January 21 drawing, while a player in North Carolina claimed the night’s massive $209.3 million jackpot.
Maryland Lottery officials confirmed that the $50,000 third-tier prize-winning ticket was sold at the Goose Creek convenience store, located at 10519 Greensboro Road in Denton. The winning numbers for the drawing were: 11, 26, 27, 53, 55, and Powerball 12.
The Denton ticket matched four of the first five numbers and the Powerball, qualifying for the third-tier prize.
Meanwhile, across state lines, a lucky ticket holder in North Carolina matched all six numbers to hit the full Powerball jackpot, which had an estimated annuity value of $209.3 million or a $95.3 million cash option. That jackpot now resets to $20 million for the January 24 drawing.
The North Carolina win comes just weeks after a historic $1.8 billion Powerball jackpot was won on Christmas Eve by a player in Arkansas.
