Albany's Office of Violence Prevention rolls out new plan for city partnerships
This past weekend, Albany saw at least seven violent incidents. Two of those involved youth with guns, four people were injured in separate shootings, one homicide case found a 39-year-old woman shot and killed in her vehicle, and one case found a 71-year-old man stabbed in the chest. Overall, nearly 900 calls of service were made to the police department. While officials say crime is actually down, and they are not treating this as an isolated spike, they are implementing a new violence prevention plan. Albany Mayor Dorcey Applyrs and other city partners overviewed that plan Tuesday morning.
