INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Heritage Christian won the regional championship in girls basketball for the second straight season.

A key reason for the Eagles’ success this year has been sophomore Riley Johnson. Johnson is averaging a team-high 17 points per game this season and makes plays on the defensive end as well, leading the team with nearly 3.5 steals per game.

Johnson took her game up a level in the regional championship, scoring a game-high 24 points in the win over Union County.

Johnson and Heritage Christian look to make it to their first state championship since 2016 this weekend. The bond the team has is what has made this run so much fun for Johnson.
