GARY, Ind. (WISH) — The BeyGOOD Foundation, founded by singer-songwriter Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, announced a $200,000 donation Tuesday in Indiana to support relief efforts following devastating storms and record flooding.
Knowles-Carter started BeyGOOD in 2013.
The grants will go to the City Life Center in Gary and the Texas-headquartered Angel by Nature, two organizations working in communities hit hardest by a recent derecho storm. Angel by Nature’s primary operations and distribution hub are in Gary.
The storm destroyed local infrastructure and left more than 1,000 people without homes, the foundation said in its announcement.
The funding was designed to provide immediate support for recovery in high-need areas, including Gary. Households that lost their belongings or homes in the flooding will receive food, household supplies and other essential resources.
The foundation also encouraged donations at beygood.org.
