Blowing dusts prompts health alert in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Albuquerque-Bernalillo County Air Quality Program has issued a health alert for the City of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County due to blowing dust. The alert is effective as of Tuesday, February 27, from 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Anyone with respiratory conditions is encouraged to limit outdoor activity.

City of Albuquerque orders businesses generating dust to temporarily shut down Tuesday

The city recommends taking the following steps during health alerts:

  • Limit time spent outdoors and avoid outdoor exercise
  • Keep windows and doors closed
  • Use air conditioners and heating systems in recirculation mode
  • Contact your health provider if you experience new shortness of breath, chest tightness, chest pain palpitations, or unusual fatigue
