Boy dies after tree falls on Jennings County home after storms

NORTH VERNON, Ind. (WISH) — A 4-year-old boy died Tuesday afternoon when a tree fell on a home after a storm in Jennings County.

Deputy Chief Cody Low of the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office said emergency crews responded at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday to a Geneva Township home. A tree fell onto a back bedroom, trapping the boy inside.

The home is in a heavily wooded area about 1.5 miles northwest of North Vernon. Three other people inside escaped safely.

Authorities have not released the boy’s name.

North Vernon is about an 80-minute drive south-southeast of downtown Indianapolis.
