Butler eliminated in Big East Tournament, losing to Providence

NEW YORK (WISH) — Butler lost to Providence, 91-81, in the first round of the Big East Tournament.

Michael Ajayi led the Bulldogs with 21 points. He picked up a double-double in his third straight game, hauling in 11 rebounds.

Finley Bizjack (17 points) and Efeosa Oliogu-Elabor (10 points) were the other two Bulldogs in double figures.

Butler shot just 40% from the floor and 29% from three. The Bulldogs struggled containing the perimeter, allowing Providence to make 14 three-pointers on a 52% clip. The Friars also shot 52% from the field.

Butler (16-16) will miss the NCAA Tournament this season. The last time the Bulldogs played in The Big Dance was 2018.
