California becomes first state to join WHO-coordinated global outbreak response network

California has become the first and only US state to join the WHO's Global Outbreak Alert & Response Network (GOARN), in order to quickly detect and respond to emerging health threats, despite the Trump administration's withdrawal from the WHO.
