California to provide free rescue inhalers to schools
California will soon provide free albuterol rescue inhalers and spacers to 10,000 public and charter schools through the School Albuterol Access Initiative. Announced by Governor Gavin Newsom, the three-year program aims to prevent life-threatening asthma emergencies in classrooms and playgrounds. To facilitate distribution, a standing order removes the requirement for individual prescriptions, while specialized training will be provided to school staff.
