Child dead after being hit by car on Indy’s near east side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A child is dead after being hit by a car on the near east side of Indianapolis according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

The incident happened at the 1200 block of North Rural Street. That is near the intersection of 10th Street and Rural Street.

The child was taken to the hospital were they were pronounced dead.

Police say that they do not believe that intoxication was a factor. The driver stayed on scene and cooperated with detectives.
