INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A 34-year-old Danville man was criminally charged Tuesday after, an investigator says, he sent sexually explicit messages and images of himself to a contact he believed was a 14-year-old.
A low-level felony charge of attempted dissemination of matter harmful to minors was filed Monday against Levi Garrett in Marion Superior Court 35. Online records show an arrest warrant issued Monday for Garrett was withdrawn the next day, but no explanation was provided.
It was unclear Tuesday afternoon if Garrett was or has been arrested, and News 8 reached out to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office for information. Online records did not show Garrett was jailed in Marion County on Tuesday afternoon.
An investigator with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office says the photos were sent in March on a social networking and dating app.
An investigation began after a viral video surfaced in which Garrett was confronted by a member of a private group conducting sting operations to identify people engaging in inappropriate online conduct. The member of the private group had posed as a 14-year-old.
