HOUSTON (WISH) — The Colts lost to the Texans, 38-30, and end the season on a seven-game losing streak.
The Colts have now lost five straight games against the Texans.
“I was pleased with the way the guys battled all day, but at the end of the day, obviously not enough,” Colts head coach Shane Steichen said. “Turnovers hurt us and penalties hurt us. But I thought Riley (Leonard) did some really good things. He showed up, threw some touchdown passes, moved in the pocket well and made some big-time plays for us.”
The Colts finish the season with an 8-9 record for the second straight season.
“It was frustrating, the last half of the season for sure,” Steichen said. “That’s what’s it been, not finding ways to finish and we’ve got to work tirelessly to get that fixed. “
Riley Leonard was 21-for-34 passing for 270 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. He also had 21 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. Leonard also lost two fumbles.
“Didn’t play well enough when I needed to,” Leonard said. “I did a lot of good, but too much bad.”
“What an opportunity,” Leonard added. “Something you dream of your entire life and every snap that I was out there, I had goose bumps just thinking, ‘Man, I made it.’ But that all gets wiped away whenever you make mistakes and got to take care of those.”
