INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Colts head coach Shane Steichen said the team is not going to activate Anthony Richardson.
Richardson suffered an orbital fracture during band work before the Colts Week 6 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals. He had surgery on the injury and has been on injured reserve (IR) since.
“Had a conversation in my office yesterday with him,” Steichen said. “It was great. He’s still got the vision limitations. It’s just the smart thing. Obviously, you put him out there with vision limitations, something happens, not a good idea. So, we won’t activate him.”
“He can run around and throw and stuff, but it’s just the vision limitations that he has right now,” Steichen added.
Richardson’s practice window has been opened as he recovers from the injury. He was listed as a full participant in Wednesday’s walk-through. The report is an estimation of what Richardson’s participation would be if there was a practice. He was listed as a limited participant in all three days last week.
Steichen shared how challenging the injury has been for Richardson.
“Very difficult,” Steichen said. “I mean, it was a freak accident that happened. And like I said, I had a long conversation with him yesterday in my office, and I feel for him.
