Cyber tip leads to arrest of Rushville man on child exploitation charges

RUSHVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — A Rushville man was arrested Thursday after Indiana State police received a cyber tip from National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about an account that likely had child sex abuse material according to a Thursday Indiana State Police release.

After police received the tip, they began working to determine the owner of the account.

The suspect was identified as 25-year-old James Laird of Rushville after a two month long investigation.

Police say they served a warrant Thursday afternoon at a residence on West 3rd Street in Rushville, Indiana.

Laird was arrested and taken to the Rush County Jail. He was charged with three counts of child exploitation and eight counts of possession of child sex abuse material.
