Dairy farms seek profits despite tariffs
New York's dairy farmers have been dealing with tariffs of 10% or more. According to Governor Hochul, those tariffs include much of what they needed to stay in business. Dairy farmers have less options when it comes to offsetting those extra costs.
In the attempt to make a desired profit, other types of businesses tried to make up for higher operational expenses by charging customers more. Federal mandates prevented this strategy for dairy farmers.
