INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indiana Department of Child Services is hosting its Awaken Christmas Outreach to help 1,000 Indianapolis families this holiday season.

The free event takes place at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the DCS Marion South Office on Madison Avenue.

Project Awaken is the agency’s major reorganization, focused on pushing resources and decisionmaking closer to the families served, making DCS more efficient and community focused.

In partnership with The Dream Center of Indianapolis, volunteers will distribute grocery boxes filled with fresh produce and meat to families in need.
