Dollar General's literacy foundation continues to improve education

The foundation's mission is rooted in the story of Dollar General Co-Founder J.L. Turner. He was the son of a Tennessee farmer and only received a third-grade education. His experience inspired his son, Cal Turner, and grandson, Cal Turner Jr., to create the foundation in his honor.
