ELKHART, Ind. (WISH) — The suspect in a woman’s fatal stabbing was found dead in a nearby creek early Monday morning, police confirmed.
The Elkhart Police Department says the incident happened around 3:37 a.m. Monday.
First responders were called to a home in a neighborhood west of Elkhart High School to investigate a stabbing incident.
There, they found 37-year-old Myrna Gaona suffering “multiple apparent stab wounds.”
Medics rushed Gaona to a hospital, where she later died.
Police say during the investigation, they located a suspect lying dead in a nearby creek bed. His identity and cause of death have not been released.
