Even under threat of rain, St. Charles Riverfest rolls on

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Frontier Park was buzzing Thursday afternoon with live music, delicious local food, and family-friendly activities like face painting, carnival rides, as organizers and attendees hoped Mother Nature would not disrupt the St. Charles Riverfest fireworks show.

"We don't have any alternative plans, but we're going back to my brother's house in St. Louis for a cookout so we might have a cook in,” out-of-towner Patrick Byrne said.

Like Byrne, Denita Hord of Kansas City pinned her hopes on seeing fireworks Thursday evening.

"No, we don't have any other plans, which is unfortunate because I came down here to spend the Fourth of July with my brother and his family from Kansas City,” she said.

Even with the threat of rain, some attendees we spoke with had plenty to look forward to, on a plate or on the stage.
