EVESHAM TOWNSHIP, NJ — A fatal police encounter early Friday morning left one person dead and an officer injured in Burlington County, authorities said.

The incident happened around 4:40 a.m. near Route 73 and Greentree Road in Evesham Township.

Officials said one individual sustained fatal injuries during the encounter, while a police officer was taken from the scene for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
