Florida woman arrested for threatening driver with gun in Evansville

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — A Florida woman was arrested in Evansville on Wednesday after threatening to kill another driver during a road rage incident, police say.

According to the Vangerburgh County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 12:27 p.m., police received a report of a road rage incident on northbound U.S. Highway 41 near Boonville-New Harmony Road.

Police say that 44-year-old Mary Elleman of Panama City was driving a white GMC and “became involved in a dispute” with someone driving a black Lexus. Police are accusing Elleman of displaying a gun during the incident, threatening to shoot and kill the driver of the Lexus.

After the incident, Elleman continued to drive northbound on U.S. Highway 41 toward Princeton. Officers were able to quickly locate her, conduct a traffic stop, and take her into custody. Police say during the traffic stop, they recovered the handgun believed to have been used during the incident.

Elleman is facing a felony charge of intimidation with a deadly weapon.
