PARIS (WISH) — French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday said he ordered the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle to move from the Baltic Sea to the Mediterranean.

He said it will be escorted by its air wing and frigate. The nuclear-powered carrier is the flagship of the French navy, able to carry up to 40 aircraft.

In a pre-recorded speech on French TV, Macron added that Rafale fighter jets, air-defense systems, and airborne radar systems have been deployed over the past few hours in the Middle East.
