Judge Amit Mehta sided the Justice Department, which argued throughout the landmark trial that Goggle has relied on anticompetitive payments with the likes of Apple and AT&T – including $26.3 billion in 2021 alone – to ensure its search engine is enabled by default on most smartphones.
