HAMMOND, Ind. (WISH) — After getting a firsthand look at some of the damage caused by a round of severe weather, Gov. Mike Braun said he expects to make a statewide emergency declaration. 

Gov. Braun joined state and local officials during a press briefing in Hammond on Wednesday, where he said the National Guard is on standby to help speed up recovery, if needed. 

He’s asking Hoosiers to be patient and do their part to help. 

“Stay communicative, tell your local authorities what needs to be done, and the state will be there to back it up,” Braun said.
