VAN BUREN, Ind. (WISH) — Three people are dead and one is injured after a Monday afternoon crash in Grant County shortly.
Police believe alcohol, narcotics or both, and speed may have contributed to the crash.
A release sent by Indiana State Police says 23-year-old Alexander McGuin of Gas City was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu traveling eastbound on County Road 600 South near County Road 1150 East. Around 12:15 p.m., the car veered off the road and struck a tree where it came to a stop.
There were three passengers in the vehicle; 21-year-old James Clark Jr. of Dunkirk,19-year-old Gracelynn Daniels of New Castle, and 22-year-old Michael Reading of Hartford City.
Clark Jr., Daniels, and McGuin died at the scene.
Reading was taken via helicopter to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police continue to investigate.
