WASHINGTON, D.C. — A suspect fired a handgun in a Northwest neighborhood, shattering a window before tossing the weapon and fleeing the scene.

The gunfire erupted around 6:56 p.m. on March 8 in the 3100 block of 11th Street Northwest.

Investigators say the suspect discharged the weapon, causing damage to a window, then discarded the handgun nearby before officers arrived.

Police were able to recover the firearm during their on-scene investigation.

Surveillance cameras in the area captured images of the suspect, and authorities are now asking for the public’s help in identifying the individual.

A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and indictment.
