FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WISH) — A body with what police called an apparent gunshot wound was found in a field after reports of a disturbance on Thursday afternoon.
Fort Wayne Police Department officers were sent at 12:45 p.m. Thursday to the intersection of Stardale Drive and Turtle Creek Drive on reports of a disturbance among people over a vehicle at Village Park Apartments.
As the officers were en route to the apartments, they learned that shots had been fired. Upon arrival, they found some people had fled the area, prompting a police dog to track them. This led to the discovery of a body.
Police, within the initial hours of their investigation, had not confirmed whether the dead person was connected to the initial disturbance.
The identity of the person had not been shared in an initial news release from the department.
