More Americans struggle with medical debt
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — About half of U.S. adults say it is difficult to afford health care costs, according to new polling from KFF, a national policy research organization.
Victoria Gonzales is a Fort Wayne mother of a 9-month-old baby boy named Adriel. Motherhood got off to a rough start when Adriel ended up in the neonatal intensive care unit.
“Immediately, I am worried about his health, and I’m like, ‘How am I going to afford this?’” said Gonzales. “Every day that we were in once, we hit 30 days, and then 100 days, I was just like, ‘Oh my gosh, when are these bills just going to hit?'”
