GREENFIELD, Ind. (WISH) — One is dead, four children were rushed to a hospital, and one man was airlifted after a head-on crash happened Saturday afternoon involving two vehicles on the north side of Greenfield, according to a news release issued Tuesday from Hancock County Sherriff’s Office.

A 2013 Cadillac Escalade driven by 45-year-old Adam Hunt of Greenfield was traveling south on State Road 9, just north of I-70, approaching a Ford Fusion driven by 32-year-old Cody Clark of Greenfield.

Hunt’s wife and their four young children were also in the Cadillac.

According to the sheriff’s office, the Ford crossed the centerline into the southbound lane, striking the Cadillac head-on. Clark died at the scene.

Police say he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the Cadillac, Hunt, was transported to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital-Indianapolis by helicopter with life-threatening injuries. His wife was treated on scene and their four children were taken by ambulance to a hospital.

Police say everyone in the Cadillac was wearing their seatbelts.

At this time, drugs, alcohol or both may be a factor. Police on Tuesday continued to investigate the crash.
