Homer G. Phillips Hospital: A lasting legacy in St. Louis healthcare

Homer G. Phillips Hospital opened its doors in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1937. It was the first teaching hospital west of the Mississippi River and the only public hospital in the Gateway City to serve the Black community until 1955, when steps were taken to abolish segregation.
