MORRISTOWN, Ind. (WISH) – Investigators say a tip from a concerned mother about her own child prevented a mass shooting plot at Morristown Junior-Senior High School. 

17-year-old Alexis Pickett is under arrest and charged with attempted murder, conspiracy, and intimidation charges; accused of planning a Columbine-style mass shooting at the school. According to court documents, Pickett planned the attack for May 25, 2026.

But Shelby County Prosecutor Brad Landwerlen believes that date could have been moved up at any point and reached its tragic conclusion if Pickett’s own mother didn’t alert authorities.
