Mayor names IMPD Chief Chris Bailey as chief of staff

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Chief Chris Bailey is preparing to leave the department for a new role at City Hall in February.

Mayor Joe Hogsett has nominated Bailey to become the city’s next chief deputy mayor and mayor’s chief of staff. The Indianapolis City-County Council will decide whether to confirm Bailey. News 8 first reported on the announcement on Thursday.

Bailey will leave IMPD on Feb. 2 to take on the new role, where he’ll oversee city operations and work directly with the mayor’s administration.
