IMPD investigates 2 overnight shootings; suspect in custody

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis police made one arrest after two people were shot in separate incidents early Monday morning.

Sutherland Avenue shooting

Less than a minute after midnight, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to a shooting in the 3200 block of Sutherland Avenue. That’s a residential area near East 30th Street and Dr. Andrew J. Brown Avenue along Fall Creek on the city’s near north side.

The victim, a male, was stable when transported to a hospital.

IMPD says officers were quickly able to identify 32-year-old Davonna Ferguson as a suspect in the shooting. She was arrested nearby on preliminary charges of aggravated assault, residential entry, unlawful carrying of a handgun, resisting law enforcement, and criminal mischief.

Police did not say how Ferguson knew the victim or what led to the shooting.

Pleasant Run Parkway shooting

Just after 6:45 a.m., IMPD Southeast District officers found a woman shot at an apartment complex in the 4500 block of East Pleasant Run Parkway North Drive. That’s a residential area off of East Washington Street, just west of Thomas Car Howe High School.

IMPD says the woman was stable when transported to a hospital.

Police have not said what led to the shooting, and no arrests have been made.
