INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department announced an arrest in a fatal overnight shooting.

Rural Street homicide

At 2 a.m. Friday, officers in the 500 block of North Rural Street saw two men fighting. IMPD says an armed man ran from the scene when officers arrived. He got into a vehicle and a pursuit ensued.

The pursuit ended on eastbound I-70 near Emerson Avenue, and the suspect, later identified as 35-year-old Fredrick Sims Jr., was taken into custody.

IMPD says additional officers on Rural Street found a man shot on the side of the road. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. Coroners later identified him as 45-year-old Michael G...
