Person hurt after bullet fell from sky

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indianapolis police believe a stray bullet fell from the sky and wounded a man on New Year’s Day.

Just before 6 a.m., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to a report of a person shot in the 4300 block of South High School Road. That’s on the city’s southwest side, not far from Indianapolis International Airport.

Officers arrived and found the injured man, who was checked out and released by medics at the scene.

The incident comes just four days after IMPD reminded residents of the danger of firing guns into the air during New Year’s Eve celebrations.
