INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer has been charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI) after he showed up to work with the smell of alcohol on his breath.
During the initial investigation, Officer Bryan Gibson was determined to be under the influence of alcohol.
IMPD officials sent out a press release on Wednesday stating that on Dec. 11, Police Chief Chris Bailey suspended Gibson without pay and recommended his termination to IMPD.
Charges have been filed against Gibson for OWI and operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol level concentration (BAC) of .08 or higher.
An initial hearing date is scheduled for Jan. 20.
