Indiana National Guard officer accepts invite to Trump’s State of the Union

WASHINGTON (WISH) — 1st Lt. Kathryn Quarcelino of the Indiana National Guard has accepted an invitation to attend President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address.

U.S. Rep. Jefferson Shreve, an Indiana Republican, announced the news Monday, saying he’s honored to welcome Quarcelino as his guest. Quarcelino serves as a platoon leader with the 1313th Engineer Company based in Franklin, Indiana. She is a platoon leader in Washington, D.C., supporting the Keep D.C. Safe and Beautiful mission.

“Kathryn represents the very best of Indiana — service, discipline, and leadership. From enlisting as a combat engineer to leading soldiers here in our nation’s capital, she has stepped forward to serve at every level. Hoosiers can be proud of her commitment to our state and to our country,” Shreve said in a news release.

Quarcelino said in the release that it’s an honor to represent the Indiana National Guard and the soldiers and airmen she serves alongside. “I’m proud to support our mission both at home and in Washington, D.C., and I’m thankful for the continued support of our elected leaders.”
