Woman arrested for illegally taking paddlefish in Dubois County

BIRDSEYE, Ind. (WISH) — A woman was arrested in Crawford County after stealing an endangered species of fish from Patoka Lake spillway.

According to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Monday, Indiana Conservation Officers received a call on Feb. 16 informing them of paddlefish being illegal snagged from the spillway.

DNR says that call led to the arrest of 45-year-old Crystal Sheets for taking the endangered fish. She was also found to be in violation of a protective order.
