INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Canterbury Park along the Monon Trail will undergo renovations, including a new playground, funded by a $1 million allocation from City-County Council Vice President John Barth.

A groundbreaking happened Monday. Construction at Canterbury Park is expected to begin in the coming weeks. The project is scheduled to last through late 2026.

Canterbury is one of more than 40 Indy Parks sites under construction or pending start as part of a $150 million investment to improve the city’s park system.

The Democratic Party councilor said in a statement, “This investment in Canterbury Park is a direct result of residents speaking up about what they wanted to see in their neighborhood.”

The park is at 5510 N. Carvel Ave., just over a mile north of the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
