INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — While electoral fairness and voting rights are under scrutiny, Indianapolis community and national civic leaders are hosting a forum, Our Vote, Our Voice: An Emergency Briefing.
This comes at a time during growing concerns after a Supreme Court ruling in April, where the justices overturned a majority Black congressional district in Louisiana, opening the door for more redistricting across the country that could aid Republican efforts to control the House.
The free, public forum will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Crossroads AME Church, 4602 N. College Ave. Registration for the event can be found online.
Speakers at the event will be Damien Connors, senior program officer for Defending Inclusive Democracy at the Kettering Foundation; Susan Hall Dotson, African American collections curator of the Indiana Historical Foundation; Joseph Lennis Tucker Edmonds, associate professor of religious studies and Africana studies at Indiana University Indianapolis; Arielle Brandy, executive director of Indiana Voices; and RaeVen Ridgell, a Defending Inclusive Democracy fellow at the Kettering Foundation.
