INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A 54-year-old Indianapolis man accused of killing his 81-year-old father was in court Wednesday where he was formally charged with murder, court records show.
Bryan L. Pedigo was day earlier arrested in Greene County on suspicion of killing his father, John Pedigo, who was found dead by police during a welfare check at their home.
Around 4:29 p.m. Thursday, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were dispatched on a report of a death investigation in the 2100 block of South Catherwood Avenue, just west of I-465.
John was found dead with multiple injuries consistent with homicide, while his mother, Olanna Pedigo, sustained serious injuries but survived.
The incident unfolded when Bryan told a friend over the phone that he had killed his father the previous night. Officers first responded to the home but found no one there. Later, they returned to discover John’s body wrapped in a rug, along with Olanna, who showed signs of physical abuse.
An autopsy confirmed John’s death was a result of homicide due to multiple blunt force traumas.
