INDIANAPOLIS (WISH)— Anticipation is high for the 110th running of the Indianapolis 500, with 33 cars set to take the green flag Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Alex Palou will start from the pole and enters the race as the clear favorite. The 2025 IndyCar Series champion has four wins this season and has earned widespread praise for his performance on and off the track.

“He’s become a phenom — calm under pressure and incredibly skilled,” sports analyst Mike Connell said during WISH-TV’s Carb Day coverage Friday. “If he wins, it would be the first time in the history of the Indy 500 that two different drivers have claimed back-to-back wins for four consecutive years.”
