LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WISH) — Investigators looking into the shooting of a judge and his wife on Wednesday announced no progress in their search for a suspect in the crime.
The shooting of Steve Meyer, the judge in Tippecanoe Superior Court 2, and his wife, Kim, has drawn worldwide media attention. The shooting happened just after 2:15 p.m. Sunday in the 1700 block of Mill Pond Lane in Lafayette, just south of the Wabash neighborhood near Old U.S. 231.
Lafayette police found the Meyers suffering gunshot wounds: Steve had been shot in the arm, while Kim sustained a bullet to the hip.
A news release issued Wednesday from the Lafayette Police Department said the FBI, Indiana State Police and local law enforcement efforts were continuing, and commended investigators for “the tireless work.”
The release also shared a statement from the Democratic Party judge, who was previously on the Lafayette City Council for more than two decades.
“I am so grateful for the outpouring of support from friends, the community, court colleagues, and
law enforcement. I want to express my heartfelt thanks to my medical team. I am receiving
excellent care and I am improving. Kim is also deeply appreciative for the community support,
and she too is healing.
