BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) — IU director of athletics Scott Dolson won the National Association of College Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Athletics Director of the Year Award.
He is the first IU athletic director to receive the honor, which dates back to 1999. He won in the Division I FBS category.
Dolson hired IU football head coach Curt Cignetti, who led the Hoosiers to the program’s first national championship in the 2025 season, going a perfect 16-0.
On top of the football team’s success, six IU student-athletes were individual NCAA champions in the 2024-25 academic year, which was the most in IU history. During Dolson’s tenure as IU’s athletic director, 13 of IU’s 24 programs have finished in either first or second place in the Big Ten.
Dolson has taken on a larger voice in college sports as well, attending a roundtable at the White House earlier in March discussing the future of college athletics.
Dolson is in his sixth year as IU’s athletic director. He graduated from IU as well, and was a student manager for the men’s basketball team for four years under head coach Bob Knight. He was the program’s head manager in 1988.
