Johnson County, Indiana, holds an active shooter exercise
JOHNSON CO, Ind. (WISH) — Across the country, there were 233 school shooting incidents last year, according to the K-12 School Shooting Database. That’s more than one a day. First responders in Johnson County are using summer break to train for the unthinkable, participating in a full-scale active shooter exercise.
It looked and felt like a real emergency at Indian Creek High School.
“It’s so surreal to be at my school that I go to that I feel safe in and experiencing what it would be like to have this actually happen because you don’t think that it’s going to happen, but it could,” Lilian Spencer said.
