INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — With temperatures hovering around dangerous levels, experts say the safest place for kids is indoors, but for families with school bus stops and outdoor activities, going outside isn’t always avoidable.
Dr. Brian Gray, a pediatric trauma surgeon at Riley Hospital for Children, says staying warm depends on layering your clothes.
“Put your kids in mini layers of clothes, try to keep them thin layers and things that are moisture wicking if at all possible. When they go out of the house, think about keeping their areas that are most far away from their heart covered,” said Gray.
He say those are the areas that have the lowest amount of blood flow. They include the ears, fingertips, and toes.
