Kern Sheriff's and Kia team up to offer free theft prevention services

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The Kern County Sheriff's Office and Kia Bakersfield dealer are teaming up for a free theft prevention services event Saturday.

In response to the increased thefts of Kia vehicles, KCSO's Crime Prevention Unit will be providing steering wheel locks to the community. Locks will be distributed on a first come, first served basis and Kia owners must bring their registration.

Eligible vehicle owners will also receive appointments to upgrade their vehicle's software and hardware. More than 200 hundred Kia vehicles were stolen in 2023.

Kia owners are invited to the free event happening at the Kia dealership located at 5445 Gasoline Alley Dr. March 2, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
