Lawmakers consider child care solutions

ANDERSON, Ind. (WISH) — A child care provider told News 8 ideas in the Indiana General Assembly for child care might help, but providers can’t wait for the next budget session.

Since cuts to the Child Care Development Fund voucher program took effect on Oct. 5, Hooligan’s Learning Academy Director Traelynn Mikel said her enrollment has dropped by about 20 children. She said she has had to reduce her staff’s hours to cut expenses, though she has not yet had to lay anyone off.
